The USA, the UK, Australia, Japan, India, Israel, Hong Kong, and Thailand make up its component nations on Earth, and the UDS holds Luna, Phobos, and Callisto. UDS residents also make up the majority of “Independent” stations in HEO and at the LaGrange points, as well as throughout the Main Belt. One of the leaders in most areas of technology but most predominantly medical and data systems, the UDS boasts the finest space fleet in the System. As the name belies, the UDS is Democratic, each member nation electing their own Governor and the President of the UDS being elected once every four years. Parts of the Constitution, the Magna Carta, the Bible, and other groundbreaking documents are used as a foundation for this religion-tolerant but predominately Christian nation. AI and Neo-Sentients are treated well, but many fundamentalists have serious objections to both. Uploading is similarly seen by some as suicide, though the society is tolerant enough to protect the rights of all.
