Mercury hasn’t been really settled, per se, but many citizens of the APL live and work in the mining colonies there. The APL is the envy of other more advanced nations because of their mining technology, which to the disappointment of every scientific group in the System who tries to reverse-engineer or develop their own similar technology. Efforts are equally frustrating and fruitless on the industrial espionage side; No one who knows anything, or has access to anyone who does, is talking.
